KDL-50R450A Horizontal Lines

After almost 3 years of moderate use, the picture on my Sony Bravia KDL-50R450A has suddenly become distorted. It looks like every other line of picture has shifted down 5 lines, as if the whole image has deinterlaced. This continues for 3 seconds before some of the horizontal lines scramble for another 3 seconds, and then goes back to the "deinterlaced" state. It switches between the two at regular intervals (every 3 seconds).

This is a close up of the image. The lines continue across the entire screen, distorted evenly.

I purchased a 2 year extended warranty, but that expired about 9 months ago. I watch TV only an hour most days so I'm disappointed that this happened after such a short time. Is this a broken TCON board, or something else that I can repair easily?

Re: KDL-50R450A Horizontal Lines

I have the same problem in about the same time of use. I took it to a specialist and they say it was the screen. They recomended me to buy another tv...
