5G network not detected

My new Vaio isn't detecting 5G wifi from Netgear WNDR3700 router.
2.4g wifi is working fine. The wife's Mac is detecting and using the router's 5G wifi.

INFO:

Vaio=VPCCA290X UC7; OS= Win7 Pro 64

WiFi adapter= Intel WiFi LINK 1000 BGN, driver version 14.0.2.2 (1/4/2011). Device Manager says it's working properly.
The 64bit drivers are in Windows\system32 (if that matters?).
802.11n mode=enabled. wireless mode=3.802 11 b/g (no n mode option is shown).

Thanks for any help!

Hello and welcome to the forums.
First install the driver here:
Intel® WiFi® Link 1000 BGN Driver

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-do ... 8&os_id=47

This driver also resolves the yellow exclamation point error device manager exclamation Point Error that may appear in device manager next to "Network Controller" which indicates that a driver is not installed for that device.

If you can connect, however not at the speed indicated, try running a speedtest as shown here:

https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/32078

if none of these assist try testing in another location before contacting support for deeper troubleshooting.
