External monitor screen flicker when power cord is plugged in (Vaio Z 2012)

I have a SVZ13114GXX, Dell U2412M monitor, Windows 8, and Sony's Windows 8 drivers. When I connect the monitor via VGA and the power cord is plugged into the laptop, the monitor would consistently flicker like there is electromagnetic interference inside the laptop. The flicker immediately stops when the power cord is unplugged. Is there a way to fix this serious issue?

Re: External monitor screen flicker when power cord is plugged in (Vaio Z 2012)

I resolved this issue! :smileyhappy:

It turns out that the problem is ground loop interference. I replaced the monitor's power cord with a spare power cord, and the flicker disappeared. The power cord that was included with the monitor was much thinner than my spare.
