Re: VAIO Tap 11 Keyboard Stopped Responding

Hi mrgrieves76,

The BIOS area will work if the computer is completely shut down. You can use this link as reference. Hope this helps!

Re: VAIO Tap 11 Keyboard Stopped Responding

It keeps on disconnecting. That is the problem. The fastest way to recoonect it is to switch Keyboard receiver on and off from its settings menu.

Re: VAIO Tap 11 Keyboard Stopped Responding

Looks like I am having a worse time then anyone else with this problem....

I did the update of Bios, then to Win 8.1. Did all the updates after that.

Went in to do the Bios reset to default (keyboard/mouse works in that!!), got back to Windows, still have the problem.

I did the Pairing Tool, says "Fail for timeout".

Went back to Bios again, CAN'T DO ANYTHING IN BIOS NOW because the keyboard isn't working at this point!!

Are there any other options besides doing a hard reset? I really really don't want to do that! Thanks...

James

Re: VAIO Tap 11 Keyboard Stopped Responding

What's working for me is the pairing tool exe. Instructions are:

1) Locate c:\windows\drivers\exe\pairing tool

2) Turn keyboard to OFF

3) run PAIRING_TOOL.EXE

4) click PAIRING button

5) press and hold CTRL & ESC

6) WHILE CONTINUING TO HOLD CTRL + ESC KEYS           turn ON the keyboard

7) the caps-lock light on the keyboard should start to blink

8) after a few seconds, the application should indicate successful connection with the keyboard.

Fail for timeout means it was waiting for you to turn on the keyboard while simultaneously holding ctrl+esc.

Re: VAIO Tap 11 Keyboard Stopped Responding

I thought I solved the problem reseting the BIOS, but later on I realized that it's still there.

Now I've noticed somethng new. The problem always happens where I press serveral times a key that requiers the function key. For example, when I'm scrlling down in an Excel sheet through Fn + PgDn

Still no solution to the disconnecting-keyboard-issue with Windows 8.1?

[ Edited ]

I have the issue on my Tap 11 of the keyboard disconnecting from time to time, especially after long-pressing of a key, but sometimes also after other random key-input.
This problem exists only on Windows 8.1 as far as I know.

Short term solution: Go to Settings/Change PC Settings/Network/Airplane Mode/ and turn OFF the "Keyboard Receiver" and then ON again. After that it the keyboard is back.

So far I have not found any permanent solution to this problem. Neither on this thread, nor in any other forums on the net.

PS: I am not talking here about issues of a keyboard not being recognized at all. I am referring only to the disonnecting-keyboard-issue which can be resolved by what I have written above or a new user log-in or a system-restart.

Sony, what can we the customer of Tap 11 do after the IR Wireless Keyboard battery dies? I mean when the keyboard battery will not charge anymore.

Any suggestion?

Re: VAIO Tap 11 Keyboard Stopped Responding

Hi, This is HWayne.

Nop! it's not a Joke.  VAIO Tap 11 Keyboard just decides to stop working all the time.

My solution.  Use PAIRING_TOOL.exe

Also, I had to reset BIOS some time back.

At lease now when Keyboard goes out, I can run PAIRING_TOOL.exe, and it always seems to work again.

Hope this helps, sorry for the confusion, though even I am confused with SONY's help on this matter.
