i3-3217u to Intel® Core™ i7-4710MQ

Hi!

Total Computer Noob here, and I have an upgrading question for the guru's.

recently I decided to do gaming and recording on my:

Sony Vaio T-Series UltraBook

processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3217u  CPU1.80GHz  1.80GHz

installed ram: 4.00GB (3.88 available)

System Type: 64-bit Operating system, x64-based processor

Operating System: Windows 10

I asked my fiance about getting a new desktop or upgrading my laptop, he said that with my laptop I should try to upgrade to a quad-processor instead of a dual.

I looked and found the  Intel® Core™ i7-4710MQ and wondered if it would be able to swap out with my i3-3217u? Other then basic computer knowlegde I'm afraid I'm uneducated, so please be gentle with any flaming.

Hi brittanyT

Welcome to Sony Community!

Unfortunately, we do not recommend upgrading the processor / CPU or your Vaio. We only suggest upgrading certain parts like hard drive and memory, or part replacement with the same specs: https://sony.encompass.com/model/SONSVT13112FX%7CS/_/Accessories/Sony/SVT13112FX%7CS/VAIO_SVT13112FX.... It is possible by any third-party service center but there's no guarantee.

Regards,

Vincent
