Brand new Vaio T Series SVT13136CGS laptop came with windows 8 installed. A 8.1 upgrade was then attempted which then crashed the laptop. Microsoft Office and Windows are now asking to activate but when trying to do so get an Access Denied error or another error.
Office products will start but then return the message "Microsoft Office can't find your licence for this application. A repair attempt was unsuccessfull or it was cancelled."
Product Key is not viewable from "Computer Properties" and the one we have noted down is rejected ((Activation Error "0xC0000022 access denied" ).
For a new laptop this Sony has performed the worse of any of our new laptops
If a unit is purchased/bundled with Microsoft Office, then most of the time the activation code is found within the laptop's box (on a card). There are several steps to follow if an attempt to upgrade the unit from windows 8 to 8.1 is made. Here are the guidelines to follow to successfully update to 8.1 - Windows 8 upgrade. Hope this helps.
The product Key is not listed anywhere with the machine or its documentation. So I used a tool to retrieve the key from the bios and then as the machine was useless anyway we reinstalled windows and it fixed the issue. A large pain to have to do that due to a failed microsoft update but such is life.
