Hi folks. I'm reinstalling a VPCEB47GM which has got all partitions deleted (including Recovery). I installed Win 7 Pro SP1 x64 and if I go to the model download page: http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=VPCEB47GM&LOC=3#/downloadTab every driver shows as for "Windows 7 64 bits" but after downloading and starting installation it shows as "for Windows XP", and installation ends very quickly, without installing anything. I still have exclamation marks on the Device Manager. One is the Ethernet controller... Plus a Base system device, and a third one I can't remember.

I know it does not, plus it shows "For Windows 7 64 bits" but when installing all the downloaded files, they show up as "For Windows XP" and they don't install properly. I wouldn't need the set of DVDs if the drivers on the Sony website are OK. Any clues on why it doesn't send the proper drivers?
Wasn't using Compatibility mode. I was choosing Spanish as the language for the installer, and in spanish it says "for Windows XP" but not if you choose English.
Anyway, installers don't do anything, they say install successful but the exclamation marks for the "Unknown device" (which ended being the Sony Extensions Parser), the Ethernet adapter and the Base System Device remained after installing all the downloaded packages.
I ended extracting the contents of the installer with Uniextract and doing a manual driver installation via Device Manager, like in the old days of Win 98. Problem solved. Thanks!
