Restore to factory settings Windows 8

Hi there Smiley Happy

I have Sony Vaio SVE 1512, with Windows 8 pre-installed.

1. I set it up and everything went fine.
2. After that I update it to Windows 8.1, that went well too.
3. Couple days after that I wanted to reset my laptop to original Windows 8 (Reset your PC) but got the message: 'Unable to reset your PC. A required drive partition is missing.'
4. I also noticed that when entering the Reset your PC it gives me the option to reset it to 8.1, which is not my wish. I can see that all the recovery partitions are there, you can see the prtsc here > http://oi60.tinypic.com/4vjscj.jpg

Any idea?

Thanks.

Did you create your factory restore discs? Once you backup your data, you can run the discs to restore your computer software to factory settings.

Are the factory restore discs not working properly?

I wasn't clear if you were using the Sony recovery discs to go back to factory install or using a Windows feature.

Re: Restore to factory settings Windows 8

I tried to do factory reset with windows feature, and got that message... Didn't try with recovery disks, but I guess, since I created recovery disks after 8.1 update, that computer will be reset to 8.1.

Re: Restore to factory settings Windows 8

No, the Sony recovery discs will take you back to default Sony configuration which was with Windows 8. The 3 partitions you saw should be related to the Sony configuration and not the Windows restore feature.

Re: Restore to factory settings Windows 8

One more thing.

Since I have created my recovery disks, can I delete all recovery partitions now?

Do I need them anymore?

Thanks.
