Tap 20 SVJ202390X upgradeable to 16GB?

[ Edited ]

My Tap 20 (SVJ202390X) currently has 8GB. I'd like to upgrade it to 16GB. Searching for specs on the web, I see multiple references that say the maximum supported RAM is 8GB. But  also found a memory vendor who sells a 16GB kit (2x8G) that claims to be compatible with this model. Does anyone know if 16GB will work?

Re: Tap 20 SVJ202390X upgradeable to 16GB?

I didn't think it would work as the Sony spec says "8G max". But maybe they meant the max config they sell?

I hunted around, and found two vendors who's "memory finder" claimed they had compatible 16GB cards, and further claimed they had a money back guarantee if they were in fact not compatible. So I took my chances. And... IT APPEARS TO WORK!

I've installed it, and the Control Panel and Task Manager both clearly confirm 16GB is in place. Some basic testing seems to show that it's working fine too. I'll post here again if I see any problems, but given these indicators, I think all is well!

Re: Tap 20 SVJ202390X upgradeable to 16GB?

Memory specifics: SO-DIMM DDR3 NON-ECC PC3-12800 1600MHz RAM. It's from A-Tech. It's still working flawlessly.

The way I found it was simple: doing a search for the Sony model number (SVJ202390X) on Amazon. This was the least expensive at the time I checked, and Amazon is always great about returns if something doesn't work.

I found a few other "guaranteed compatible" memory modules by going to various sites that sell memory and using their Memory Finders. Some sites didn't have a match for the Tap 20, but some did. Sorry, I don't recall which sites.

Thank you very much.

But nothing below 130€. It's too expensive !

Regard.
