NW-A35 Walkman won't play last few seconds of a song

I transfer songs straight from my computer to the player, drag and drop style.

The songs play all the way through on my computer.

The player will let the song play up until the last couple of seconds before cutting off abruptly.

It does say 'cannot play: file format not supported', but it plays the majoirty of the song just fine so I'm not sure what the issue is. It is usually just one or two songs off an album too....the rest will play just fine.

Any takers on this? It's really bugging me!

I've tried replacing the files on the player, but it doesn't clear the issue up. They are all mp3 so there really shouldn't be a file format issue especially for only the last 3-5 seconds.

Re: NW-A35 Walkman won't play last few seconds of a song

Hi thenwissue

Thanks for your post.

May i know what is the bit and sample rate of the affected songs? Does it always happen for the same songs at the same position when you are playing the list of songs on your device?

Thanks!

Regards

Ann

Re: NW-A35 Walkman won't play last few seconds of a song

Hi Ann,

The bit rate is 320kbps, the same as other songs on my player that play just fine. It does happen to the same songs, and as far as I can tell, at the same part each time. It affects some songs from an album but not others so it's very strange...

Hi thenwissue

Thanks for your reply.

Have you tried ripping these songs again? Tthese affected songs may not be ripped properly during the ripping process.

Ann

The songs in question didn't need to be ripped from a phsyical disk. They were always digital. Unless you just mean the tranfer from a file on my computer to a file on my mp3 in which case, yes, I have tried tranfering them again. Nothing changes.

Hi thenwissue

In this case, have you tried playing the same songs in another Mp3 player to see if the same thing happens? Alternatively, I will suggest you to visit your nearest Service Centre so as to further diagnose on the issue.

Thanks!

Ann

Re: NW-A35 Walkman won't play last few seconds of a song

[ Edited ]

I have the same problem. my files are 90% 320kbps mp3's, the rest is FLAC and most are abrubtly cut off at the end (only tried the mp3's). Sometimes the tracks are cut off quite early, it feels like in the middle of the song.
I have tried several other players (Shanling, Cayin, IQQ, Ruizu, Nintaus, Hidizs) and never had this problem with these tracks.
It's clear to me it is a problem with the player and it's quite annoying.
I haven't seen any error messages but the screen is off during playing.

Ofcourse I have the latest firmware installed. The device is brand new. I only have it a few weeks.

Today is the tirst time I have a several hour long listening session with the NW-A35. Before that I only listened to some single tracks.

I really hope this can be fixed soon because this will make me go back to my other players and I like the user friendliness of this device.

Edit 1 : indeed, now I see an error message (cannot play, file format not supported) a few seconds after a new 320kbps mp3 starts.
It doesn't seem related to the truncation however because I didn't get the message on the next tracks but they still got cut off.

Edit 2 : I played some FLAC files from internal memory and didn't have any problem.
Then I played an 320kbps .mp3 file and noticed that about 13-14 seconds from the end of the song the File format not supported message was shown and the song skipped to the next.

With all this info Sony should be able to solve something (but will this ever reach the persons that can fix something, I wonder).
