Re: MDR-1000X Headband Cracks

So, have any of you who called customer service actually had a reasonable solution, rather tha being told to pay them $200 to swap it out with a refurbished unit?  I've watched this thread and several other threads of other mdr-1000x victims on reddit and so far I've only seen one person report that Sony replaced their for free.

And to the Sony rep on here that keeps messaging us to call support and respond back with a case number: the service reps I've talked to on the phone tell me they have no idea what a case number is and don't give out anything like that.

I think Sony is competing against Comcast this year.  At this rate, Sony should win by a landslide.

Re: MDR-1000X Headband Cracks

Hey everyone!

I am the person that orginally started this webcast discussion over 4 months ago (RFWDAR).  Sony finally reached out to me regarding my defective unit (I am sure it is due to all the other people that have posted on this thread with the same problem), and they just asked me to send them photos of the cracks for them to review. What a joke! Did they really think I would have hung onto them to use as a paperweight for the last 4 months?? I told them I threw them into the garbage where they belong, the minute I got off the phone with the customer service rep that said it was my fault and couldn't help me 4 months ago.

I do want to thank everyone for speaking up on this webcast and showing SONY that this IS a REAL problem, and not just misuse by the customer. My only hope in all of this is that some of you will get your money back, and sooner than later, SONY will stop manufacturing and selling these defective units to anyone else!

I hope everyone has an incredible day,

Re: MDR-1000X Headband Cracks

I have also the same problem on the same spot. A crack on the left side joining the phone. And it is only a matter of time that the left phone would completely tear apart. I wish Sony could do something else. This gave me nightmare because I spent $400 dollars. Dear Sony, please help us with this problem. I am a fan of sony products. I had walkman, cellphone, extrabass headphone. But this one gave me a shock of my life. The time that I bought this, this made me feel complete, like the feeling of I would never wish of something else. I have high expectation of its quality. In my daily use, I never had the feeling of regret of buying this headphone. I said to myself that the price is right. It gave me peace and quiet that I longed in my life. I was never bothered by the noise and busy street while using this. But now, I really feel sad. I was on the verge of crying when the Sony Service Center ignored my claim of warranty. They will never repair such a broken headband. They never said sorry. They said straight to buy a new one. I even said that I used it without abuse. They never listened. Dear Sony please help us. I wish that they will understand me. I saved money for months in order to buy this high end headphone.I feel disappointed because of lack of durability of materials used. I feel heartbroken because I really love this NC headphone. I feel deceived because I have spent $400 which is literally expensive and the product became less comparable to the price. I feel sad because it is Sony. Michael John Buenavista from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. jomi13mijo@yahoo.com 2 months of usage.
