Re: MDR-1000X Headband Cracks

[ Edited ]

THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING.
I bought my MDR1000x in Japan 4 Months ago and now the 2 sides are cracked. i currently reside here in the Philippines. I asked SONY Philippines if my warranty is still covered even though i bought it in JAPAN, THey said it is covered and they will replace my headset. so after travelling 300 kilometers and an 8 hour bus ride, handing them over my MDR-1000x and waiting for 3 weeks.,,,... THEY DECLINED MY WARRANTY PROCEEDINGS. They changed their statement that im not covered with INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY after stating before that i am covered with warranty, giving multiple 100% ASSURANCE that my defective MDR-1000X will be replaced with a BNEW unit.

This is my FIrst Sony Product purchase, and will certainly be the LAST. BAD PRODUCT QUALITY and WORST AFTER SALES SUPPORT.

worst experience ever with a $400 product.

Re: MDR-1000X Headband Cracks

I just registered to share that I just had my MDR-1000X break down on me after having a small crack for a while.

Never dropped them, always stored and carried in the case. This is absolutely ridiculous for a product that I payed 400€ for.

I contacted Sony support and we'll se what they'll say.

Re: MDR-1000X Headband Cracks

That is good to hear. My unit is still under service repair based on the repair tracking status. I hope I can get a feedback within the week. I badly need it before my flight this weekend. Did Sony mention when they will send you the replacement unit?

Re: MDR-1000X Headband Cracks

Just got a new pair from SONY as exchange to my broken unit.

Old serial started with 50xxxxx, the new one starts with 5414xxx.

hopes the new headphones serial number is out of the defective series.

Re: MDR-1000X Headband Cracks

Someone posted the defective serial batch is between 5000001 to 5256984 so yours (and my old pair) is in that batch.

not sure it that span is correct.

Re: MDR-1000X Headband Cracks

I just purchased the Headphones and received them from Mazon yesterday. I wore them for the first time and fell in love with them. Everything about them is great. I then read all of these issues and I have the 5000 serial number that tends to crack. With everyones issues here and what I spent , on sale, ay $241.00, I am returnng them  after the Thanksgiving rush. I am not taking the chnace that they will crack and I will need to buy, yet another pait. I apprecoate everyone's opinions here and heard the new models are made better but I don't have $400.00 to spend. it is sad to see that Sont has not helped anyone and there customer service is miserable, as I own many Sonyt products. Thanks everyoen for your help. I guess I will but the JBL Everest that are on sale at Best But for half price or $149.00 and hope for the best.

Re: MDR-1000X Headband Cracks

I don’t think you should do that?
If your product is on the list, you don’t have to worry. Just keep them and if you’re going to have problems, you can always ask for other product. I don’t think they will still have those headphones next year, so maybe you’ll get a free upgrade to the new ones.
They declared fabrication fault, that is all you need. Best warranty you can have!

Re: MDR-1000X Headband Cracks

Hi Efren,

Did you get chance to talk to Sony regarding serial numbers. I got new piece couple of days back and my serial number is 5412xxxx but i am really not sure what to do as i also have ABN 100 new pair and have to return one of these ones.

Sound wise ABN 100 is better than 1000x but NC and comfort is surely better in X1000. I can compromise on sound but this headband crack is some thing cant be expected from Sony.

Please let me know if Sony gave you some answer regarding serial number.

Thanks

Abhi
