I have had the same problem. I've tried re-applying the Intel chipset drivers, but it didn't help.

What is the model number of your PC?  I would like to try to reproduce this issue.  In the meantime you can go to intel website and it will auto detect the hardware and install the driver componet for you.

Re: Intel(R) HM77 Express Chipset LPC Controller - 1E57 have a problem

My computer is is an SVZ131190X. I had installed Windows 8 via the download upgrade tool. I did, as you suggested, try going to the Intel site. Interestingly it did find two new drivers, one for the Wireless LAN and one for the RAID controller. I installed both of these. Not sure what improvements these two new drivers bring, but they had no effect on the HM77 LPC Controller probllem.

Have the exact same problem with a VAIO All In One (VPCL212FX) and that Intel utility did nothing to fix it.

Re: Intel(R) HM77 Express Chipset LPC Controller - 1E57 have a problem

All,

can you provide me with the hardware ID so I can troubleshoot this?

1) Launch Device manager
2) Right click on the yellow bang and select Properties
3) Select the Details tab
4) Select hardware IDs in the property drop down box

Take a screen shot and upload here.

Re: Intel(R) HM77 Express Chipset LPC Controller - 1E57 have a problem

If my memory serves me correctly the SNY5001 is the Sony Firmware Extension Parser.  I'm not seeing it on the eSupport website.  Try downloading and installing the Win7 version.  It should work.
