I'm trying to connect to my router but always fails when trying to obtainthe IP settings. I have several laptops connected with no problem. The WiFi checker is no help. Any other settings I should look for?
Is it failing on step 2 and not even detecting your router? Power cycle the tablet , turn it completely off and on, not just standby.
Is it finding your router but will not issue you an IP address at step 3? check mark the “Show password” box and re verify your encryption key is entered correctly.
Is the Router Seeing your tablet but just not giving you an internet connection at step 4? Power cycle the router. Just by unplugging your router for a few seconds and letting it re establish your network solves many connection issues.
If none of these help , or the checker states you're connected even though you are not, try a soft reset on the tablet (The soft reset just closes all open Apps, stops all active processes and restarts the tablet.) you won’t lose your data. http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/micr ... 0192616963 and finally, ensure you have the latest Firmware update for your router.
I've tried all the steps, still doesn't connect to my home network. All other laptops and wireless products work.
My guess is, like the NOOK color that I had problems with very similar to this, a fix was in the update. I'm running 3.1. I haven't gone to another location to try yet but is there anyway to get the update on like an SD card and download from there?
When the tablet is not connected, it shows my SSID at excellent and secured but when I put in my password it goes down to a poor signal or out of range when I'm sitting right by the modem
I am having the same problems. My Wi-Fi will not connect I am currently in Kabul, Afghanistan and i am running on a government contracted open network. I was able to connect and update to 3.2. Now I cannot connect any more. I have tried soft and hard resets and it will connect but i cannot get by step 5 on Wi-Fi checker plus the browser will not bring up Google which is what i use for a test. At the bottom, my Wi-Fi icon is grey and not blue but i see it animated like its connected. Any further info would be appreciated.
I have a similar issue to user 919. I am able to connect fine but the connection is all over the place. I am unable to get full bars and very often the connection will just drop and the wifi signal bars will turn grey which usually fixes itself when i try opening the android market or the web browser but every now and then even that will not work and i have to just wait for it to decide to work again.
I have tried it with auto settings as well as static ip using google dns servers. I have no issues with wifi on my ps3, 360, wii, pc, both of my sisters laptops, my friends laptop, and my psp. However since i got my tablet s i have been having constant issues with the wifi and so far is the only problem i have with the tablet, however it happens to be a pretty big one since the tablet is near worthless without a connection. (for me anyway)
