Stop Netflix Auto-Play when viewing show details

I bought the XBR75X850C and have been very happy with it, especially the improvements made through each successive update.

 

My current problem is that Netflix now auto-starts playing an episode when I only want to see more information about the show.  (This isn't the auto-play next episode feature which can be turned off in account settings.)

 

Is there any way at all to stop this horrible behavior?

I noticed this the last few days.  Netflix must have updated their Android app.

 

I guess we will need someone to reach out to Netflix support on this one.

I reached out to them.  They said it's a new feature they're trying out and asked for my feedback.

 

I told them I don't like it because sometimes I'm just trying to read the show description and having it auto-start is distracting.  Also sometimes I go in to watch a particular season/episode of something and they won't necessarily know what I'll want.

 

My advice was to at least have an option to disable it like auto-play next episode.

Netflix announced this "great" feature a couple of months ago. 

Complain to Netflix about this by posting a comment on the Netflix blog here:

Netflix seems to be ignoring the complaints about this feature on their blog page.  Maybe we'll have better luck by contacting their customer support team on Twitter @Netflixhelps to let them know how we feel about this dumb feature!  https://twitter.com/netflixhelps

I did get ahold of a Netflix rep and he listened to my feedback and said it would definitely get to the development team.  He says they do take customer feedback into account.  So now I guess it's a waiting game.

 

Doesn't hurt ot have more folks get ahold of them, though.  The more people complain the better.

This is interesting. My thoughts about it are based on using Netflix on PS4 since that feature was implemented, I hate it. Robot Mad

 

On Friday we bought the X850C and with everything updated I opened the Android TV Netflix app and was delighted to find it working without that auto play feature FWIW Yes, all apps and system are up to date.

UPDATE 12/20/15: It now appears that Netflix has decided to ignore all the complaints that had been recently posted about this "feature". It has removed all the complaints posted by it's customers on their blog, and replaced it with this: https://media.netflix.com/en/company-blog/evolving-tv-at-netflix

 

Way to Go Netflix!! It's Great to see how much you really think about your customers wishes!!

Yeah ok... hows all that "customer service" does take our feedback into account. You seriously believe everything someone tells you? Of course the ****** Netflix rep is going to tell you that. Thats his JOB! And great job on having them listen to your problem and fixing it. I see that the autoplay bs is still very much in full effect.
