Hey there
We shot some stuff with the A7s and it didn't recored timecode althought it was set on FreeRun. And the Filenames always started with C001 after formating the card. In the setting we where on continual or simliar. Which is dangerous when downloading and trick to reconform.
Can anybody help
Thanks

And the filenaming when recording in XAVCs? Is that also starting at C001 each time?
Thanks

Agree. This is a real problem and seemingly a case of false advertising.
From Sony's Website:
Time code / User bit
As with commercial video equipment, this function provides a “Record Run” setting that only advances the time code while recording, a “Free Run” setting that advances the time code whether recording or not, a drop frame method and a non-drop frame method. The α7S can also output an embedded time code when the clean HDMI output setting is in use.
Note: This function is only available when recording in the AVCHD and XAVC S formats.
Also agree on the clip naming convention. Clips having duplicate names is a disaster on a larger project that includes EDLs and conforming.
Optimally, the clip name numerical reset process should be a menu item -- not based on reformatting the SD card.

I have only lurked here for a while, and that was my first post. My initial impression is that this is a vast black hole where the concerns of customers echo in a void of emptiness. In other words, I don't think anyone is listening.

Good to know that it wasn't me to blame.
The post house was quite anoid. Editing and reconforming is a bit tricky.
Ready for AVID
And I had 50p out of the camera, which it took into Davinci.
Made some Quicktimes 50p, took them through CinemaTools 25p and then again trought Dadinci to make mxf for the edit.
Is there a quicker way.
That way the Timecode numbers stay and if you set keyframes it will be the same Timecode.
Thanks
