I have a Sony DVD/Blu-ray player that I bought about a year ago. We just played a movie on it last month. It now has no power now. It is plugged into a power strip with the TV and the satellite on it. We haven't had any major storms go through that would have blown it. Plus it would've blown the TV and the satellite also. What could the problem be?
Welcome and thank you for considering the SONY Community!
We are sorry to hear that the player is not turning on. We recommend following the steps below to isolate the issue.
Make sure thepowercord is securely connected to the player and plugged into a working electrical outlet.
IMPORTANT: After plugging the player into an electrical outlet for the first time, wait 10 seconds before trying to turn on the power.
Try turning on thepower by pressing thePOWERbutton on the front of the player.
NOTE:If the player turns on by pressing thePOWER button on the front, but not with the remote control, then the batteries in the remote control may need to be replaced. Also, make sure nothing is blocking the infrared (IR) sensor on the player.
If the player is connected to the TV via HDMI cable, disconnect the HDMI from the player and press thepowerbutton again on the unit. Once the unit is on, turn off theControl for HDMIfrom theSystem Settings menu.
If possible, try a different high-speed HDMI cable
Try plugging thepower cord into a different electrical outlet.
