Vaio FZ-430E/B Restore Complete System Error 323 35

My Vaio laptop FZ-430E/B was not starting up. I replaced the hard drive (500 GB SATA) and used my recovery disks - Restore Complete System. I received the following error message: 323: 35. I look all over the sony webpage and internet, I do not know what this error message means.

I ran the Vaio hardware diagnostic: No errors

I cannot run the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool. I just won't run.

What does 323: 35 mean?

I installed 4GB (2 x 2GB) Corsair RAM. I used the Ubuntu Live CD Memtest. No errors.

rkap123,

Error 323: 35 typically indicates a file transfer error during the recovery.  Does this happen right away, or several % into the recovery process?  Did you try the recovery with the original HDD and/or RAM?  The new parts you put in could be the cause, or you could have some damaged recovery media.

Re: Vaio FZ-430E/B Restore Complete System Error 323 35

[ Edited ]

I forgot to mention. I ran memtest on my original 3 GB RAM, and I got 105728 errors in 1 pass.

I cloned my old 250 GB hard drive into the 500 GB hard drive.

With 500 GB cloned hard drive and 2 x 2 GB RAM: I did restore C drive option, and it seemed to be recovering. But it got stuck at "Please wait while Windows continues setting up your computer" all night long.

If it is stuck at "Please wait while Windows continues setting up your computer", what does this mean?

Re: Vaio FZ-430E/B Restore Complete System Error 323 35

Ok, I have gotten somewhere. I put my old 250 GB hard drive back in the laptop with 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) RAM. I was able to Restore C drive from the recovery partition.

I made brand new recovery disks (2 DVDs). This is a old hard drive, I would like to put in the new 500 GB hard drive.

I selected the recover complete system. I received the same system error 323 35.

What is going on?

Re: Vaio FZ-430E/B Restore Complete System Error 323 35

Hi again rkap123! Just to clear things out and possibly resolve this issue, here are some things that i have verified so far:

1.Older model VAIO unit come with a 512mb type Hard drive. Yours probably came with one and your new HDD might be a 4k type.

2. Error 323 : 35 comes from either bad drivers or HDD/Memory Failure.

3.You cannot use a recovery media disk created out of a 512mb type HDD to recover a 4k type drive.

I reviewed previous posts and sources and here's what i can tell:

1. You can try and run the recovery media disks to rescue your 250Gb HDD and if it turns out well then the 512mb vs. 4k  plays a great role here.

2. One way to take care of this is if you have a standalone windows installer(xp,vista,7,8), as theses standalone installers should let you complete the installation for your new 500gb hdd.

3.As how to determine if your hdd is a 4k type,  there should be an AF(advanced format) sticker there or details about advanced format on it.

Based on these, you can try recovering your vaio first with it's original components or try installing a standalone windows OS with your newer corsair RAM(s) and 500gb HDD.
