Cannot adjust brightness in new Windows 10 Update

I updated my PC to windows 10 and it works fine.

I updated my laptop to Windows 10 and worked fine.

I restarted it and my brightness is as low as can be.

I looked under drivers download and I downloaded all the graphics drivers.

It did nothing at all.

I have a VAIO Laptop VPCS111FM

Can I re-download all my drivers back so I don't have anything missing?

PS: I told windows 10 to remove all my stuff instead of keeping it

Re: Cannot adjust brightness in new Windows 10 Update

It's because of the lack of official driver for your video chip.

I'm also waiting for the driver, but it seems like it won't be published since our laptops are a little bit old.

Re: Cannot adjust brightness in new Windows 10 Update

I thought I would be smart and update my Intel drivers before installing Win 10 on my Win 8.1 Flip.

Bad mistake.  Now the brightness won't adjust and it won't stay at the brightness I have it set for; it drops down to a lower brightness.

I can't seem to find a way to roll back the driver updates to the old ones.  Anyone have an idea?

Re: Cannot adjust brightness in new Windows 10 Update

I have solved this problem.

You need to download all the original drivers from SONY support website. You can't install them directly due to your OS version. But you can run them compatibility mode. Right-click the drivers you downloaded and select the compatibility mode. Then you run them in Win7 mode and they can be installed correctly.

And you will see your hotkeys are back!

Re: Cannot adjust brightness in new Windows 10 Update

BuFan - Can you please provide a bit more information on the process you performed? I am having the same problem on my Sony All in One. Did you download EVERY orginal Windows 7 driver and then install everyone individually in combadility mode? There are a ton of dirvers, I am hoping I could pinpoint the original driver to install to fix the problem as brightness settings and brightness hot keys are the only issues I am having on the machine after upgrading to Windows 10. Any idea on the specific drivers that fixed this for you?

Thanks.

Re: Cannot adjust brightness in new Windows 10 Update

Hi,

Despite of the proper operation, my monitor was disabled under Device Manager. How to fix:

1. Go to Device Manager

2. Scroll down to the monitor

3. Click on the ">" buttom;

4. Now, right click on the monitor name/model and choose "Enable"

Should work just fine. Good luck

[ Edited ]

I'm afraid to install Win 10 because my Win 8.1 Flip installed the latest Sony Intel Graphics driver and I had to roll it back because the new driver turned off any control over brightness and set brightness at about 50% of the brightest setting.

If I install Win 10 and the same thing happens, then I will have to revert back to Win 8.1 to get the generic driver.

Hi JacobRocks12!

BuFan is right about the official drivers and software update for Windows 10 operating System. Currently, Sony is testing Vaio computer to the new updates. It takes time since Sony needs to coordinate with certain vendors to validate those updates.

Please visit this page to see the details about Windows 10 update and Upgrade.

Bravo! This solved the problem with a very dark built-in display and weirdly working brightness F-button on my VAIO VPC Z21 after otherwise smoothly upgrading it to Windows 10 couple of days ago. Thank you!
